The one that comes with it isn't too bad, but there a few tricks and shortcuts it doesn't mention. What are your questions?

It’s been years since I used the level editor so I need a crash course to get started and familiarize myself with how to use it.

Not sure if you've already done this, but if you open the editor, click on help, click on enter under the picture you'll find the tutorial, FAQs that would probably get you started again. I've been making maps and my own custom models for about 10 years so if I can be of any help I usually check in here several times a day.

Thanks and what should be the default size of the map be? Back in the day when DH2005 was busy I went by the handle Bow as my game name.

When you select new, should be height field size 640, square size should be 40 and world height should be 26214. if you are talking about once you create your map and open it, should remain the same unless you change it. if you are talking about world gap (map size) default is 100
